You are doing a great job!

Try your best!

Try out this fun multi-sensory letter formation activity! To complete this activity, you will need the following materials:

  • One writing medium: shaving cream, sugar, sand, flour or washable paint

  • A surface you’re not afraid to get messy or a container to contain the mess (for example: 9x13 pan, Tupperware or box)

Using your pointer finger, write into the writing medium the letter “a” in your best handwriting. Try this a few times until your writing medium is full of letter a’s. Clear the writing medium by wiping across the medium to clear the slate. Continue this for each letter of the alphabet! Once you’ve gone completely from a to z, write out each letter once more without cleaning your slate in between. Once you can see all of the letters of the alphabet, snap a picture of your work and send it over to me via email!

Tips

Need extra help forming the “perfect” letter? Have an adult write out the letter into the writing medium and have your child trace on top of that letter a few times then try writing the letter out on their own. If this is still too challenging for the student, email or call me and we can adjust from there!

Making too much of a mess or is the texture of the writing medium distracting? Add the writing medium into a ziplock bag, squeeze out as much air as possible and use the bag as you would the writing medium.
